2024 Spooks Parade

This participative collaborative cross-community arts project opened the Lú Festival of light in Drogheda in October 2024. With the support of Droichead Art Centre under the artistic direction of Kieran Gallagher, of Kada Ka Boom Arts, the artistic team of of Vivienne Byrne, Yvonne Dowd Gardiner, Darrin Finnegan, Breda Marron, and choreographer Tracey Martin, worked with 5 schools to create the parade through the centre of town.

The project included Droichead Youth Theatre, musicians and percussionists, 150 children across Drogheda and East Meath, including Aston Village ETNS; Presentation Primary; Mell National School, St Josephs National School, and Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa.

This was all made possible with sponsorship from Drogheda Credit Union, and funding from Drogheda’s Night Time Economy Manager, Creative Ireland, the Arts Council, Flogas Ireland, Meath Arts Office, and supported by Love Drogheda and Drogheda Port and documented by bang bang visual.

2023 Spooks Parade

2023 SPOOK'S PARADE, part of our LEANBH Children's Arts Festival Droichead Arts Centre teamed up with Kada Ka Boom Arts With sponsorship from Flogas Ireland, and support from the Arts Council and Drogheda Implementation Board, children from local schools in Drogheda & East Meath worked with artistic team Kieran Gallagher, Vivienne Byrne, Yvonne Dowd Gardiner, Darrin Finnegan and Breda Marron, and choreographer Tracey Martin to devise this ghoulish event marching a short spooktastic route through the town!
