2021 Flotsam- Right Here, Right Now
Flotsam- Right Here and Jetsam- Right Now, were a duo that began as part of the EMIT solo show at the Droichead Arts Centre in 2019. They developed in response to a large tree trunk that washed up as driftwood at Clogherhead beach. The process of drawing these pieces spoke to me of ‘time and tide waiting for no man’, Geoffrey Chaucer, 14th Century, in relation to life on earth and the degradation of the climate. The production of the work was underpinned by Fatboy Slim’s catchy 1998 hit ‘Right Here Right Now’ which found it difficult to leave my ear for the duration.
Flotsam- Right Here, was shown at Royal Ulster Academy 140th Annual Exhibition, Belfast.
